Fred may have been related to Wasyl Kwasnico, also killed in the Hillcrest Mine Disaster. They are buried beside each other.
Frank Vindicator, 30 August 1912. "A collection was lately taken up among the emplyees of the Hillcrest Collieries for Fred Kwasnico, the one time timber boss in the mine here....It will be remembered that Kwasnico had a bad attack of typhoid fever..."
